If you’ve had a look at the ITM staff tips for the 2012 edition of the inthemix awards, you might have already seen two of the site’s regular scribes gush about the inaugural edition of música/TUMBALONG as their pick for boutique festival of the year. “Great sound, an immaculate Spring day, prime location and a closing set under the stars from SBTRKT, “ ITM’s Editor JackT praised. “If you were there too, I hope you’re nodding in smug approval right now.”
There’s no doubting that the música 2011 was a resounding success. So much so, in fact, that the people behind the boutique event have announced that not only are they coming back for 2013, they’re expanding to Melbourne and Auckland as well as hosting the Sydney event. “We had an overwhelming reaction to the first event in Tumbalong from public and industry,” explained música director Kane Bligh. “It was always in our sights to expand to Melbourne and Auckland (my home town), if things went well in the first year.”
“We have some very exciting acts and performances in the coming line-up, so we can promise another progressive, electric event,” Bligh’s assured. Full event and lineup details will be announced soon and we, for one, will be paying close attention.
