2012 is shaping up to be a good year for boutique electronic music festivals. First, we got the killer lineup for the inaugural edition of Sydney’s OutsideIn Festival, then Harbourlife announced it was returning with one of its best bills yet. Now, Melbourne’s getting a slice of the pie with the announcement of a new boutique festival to see in the New Year. Let Them Eat Cake is hosting its debut edition on New Year’s Day 2013 at Melbourne’s Werribee Park, boasting an impressive first round lineup for the inaugural event.

At the top of the bill is deep-house-meets-soul specialist Kerri Chandler, joined by cult hip-hop star The Gaslamp Killer and Canadian innovator Mathew Jonson. Bringing an injection of bass are Digital Mystikz, the esteemed dubstep duo comprised of Coki and Mala, and also due to appear are R&S signee Space Dimension Controller and the UK’s DJ Marky and Stamina MC.

Promising “musical decadence, garden party opulence and culinary excess”, Let Them Eat Cake is looking to create a high quality start to the New Year. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday September 12 and will set you back $95.

Let Them Eat Cake 2013 lineup:

Kerri Chandler
The Gaslamp Killer
Mathew Jonson (Live)
DJ Marky & Stamina MC
Digital Mystikz (Coki + Mala)
The Nextmen
Space Dimension Controller (Live)

Space Dimension Controller again? He was pretty average last time he was out.

Interesting cool line up (but also a tad wanky).

With a name of Let Them Eat Cake, im surprised old mate aoki wasn't all over this. Though Promising %u201Cmusical decadence, garden party opulence and culinary excess%u201D i suppose he wouldn't really fit in.

I PICKED UP OLD MATE MAGIC 8-BALL THE OTHER DAY AND IT SAID 'OUTLOOK NOT SO GOOD'. I SAID 'SURE, BUT MICROSOFT STILL SHIPS IT.

Bit of an incongruous lineup. Not surprising when you look at the people behind it. A couple more cool names to come, but don't like the idea of being stuck in Werribee at 11pm waiting for the bus home. Definitely interested to see how this goes.

and when I say 'when you look at the people behind it' I just mean it seems like a pretty diverse group of heads.
