I Love Techno drops 2012 festival line-up

By now, we know that Belgium’s I Love Techno festival isn’t really beholden to the one genre ‘love’ anymore, instead branching out to include more electro, dubstep and house in its line-up year-on-year. True to that, we’ve just been given I Love Techno’s 2012 lineup and this time ‘round, there’s a particularly wide range of sounds heading to Flanders Expo Hall.

Leading the charge is German maestro Boys Noize, who’s packing a new live show to go with the new album he’s got due out in October. He’s joined by longtime pal Erol Alkan, French techno legend Vitalic and Canadian tastemaker Tiga. At the fore of the dubstep contingent are Benga, Nero and Flux Pavilion (to name just a few of the bass-y names on the bill), and punters can also expect Gallic wonder Gesaffelstein, Fool’s Gold head A-Trak and German dudes Modeselektor. As for the rest? There’s Flying Lotus, Jamie xx, Chris Liebing and Major Lazer, and that’s not the half of it. For €56 a ticket, you definitely can’t complain.

The mixing honours for this year’s I Love Techno release have gone to Erol Alkan, who’s selected cuts from Gesaffelstein, Para One and his own recent collaboration with Switch as part of the tracklist. Alkan’s mix is due for release in October, while the festival itself will go down on November 10.

Big meh! Considering it's in Europe and it's a techno festival, the lack of techno artists is disappointing at best. Liebing, Faki, Dave Clark and Modeselektor (Live) only fit the bill for techno. Martyn and Flying Lotus are good too but they're not techno. <50% artists techno doesn't appeal to me.
