Swedish House Mafia take on Hardwell: “That’s the lowest I’ve seen”

Swedish House Mafia may have officially hung up their hat, but the trio – or at least two thirds of it – are still keep busy on Twitter. A couple of months after Steve Angello and DJ Sneak had it out in 140-character sized chunks, two members of the now-retired SHM have found themselves in another online sparring match. This time, it’s young gun Hardwell at the receiving end. So where’s the beef this round?

As far as we can tell, the problem began when Dutch whiz Hardwell tweeted that if he reached 300,000 fans on Facebook, he’d post a Bootleg Pack for free download. Seem innocuous? You’d think so, but Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso didn’t see it that way, given the bootleg in question included Swedish House Mafia material. It didn’t take long for the pair to tweet at Hardwell their disapproval over the producer giving out SHM tunes for free. “Giving away our music in mash ups for Facebook like @HARDWELL that’s the lowest I’ve seen!!!”, Ingrosso blasted at the up-and-comer. In tweets that have since been deleted, Hardwell apologised to the group and removed the bootleg from his Facebook – you can view the exchange (including a quality Pryda troll) below.

Hardwell fans on Facebook and Twitter have been quick to come to the producer’s defence, criticising Axwell and Ingrosso for airing their grievances on Twitter (the irony, there, obviously lost). Steve Angello, meanwhile, seems oblivious. “@hardwell guys what’s up? I haven’t even tweeted anyone. Ha ha ha”.

giving away other peoples music happens everyday.....even though its illegal....just goto soundcloud, look up ANY 5 random DJ's accounts and they will have mixes or tracks avaliable to download WITHOUT the copyright owners permission.....why are SHM getting shitty when 1 known DJ does it, when every other day 1000's of lesser known DJ's are doing it.

Dear inthemix, I'd really appreciate you not trying to force me to vote by having a pop-up every single fucking click I make around this website. If i clicked 'close' 50 times, why do you continue to try and make me vote.

ArmySniperDan said on the 1st Sep, 2012

nothing House about this group, the fact that top 40 stations play your music, therefore you are not EDM

ItsFluff said on the 1st Sep, 2012

So the minute Top 40 plays house it isn't EDM anymore?

If Carl Cox would be in the Top 40, it wouldn't be EDM? That's basically what you're saying.

Fuck you man. Fuck you.

ArmySniperDan said on the 1st Sep, 2012

ichizora said on the 2nd Sep, 2012

These guys make house music. Sure - call it commercial or whatever - but it's still house.

interesting. I never would have cared to hear this track but now that it's been quickly taken offline I feel like going on a hunt for it

Hammo91 said on the 3rd Sep, 2012

A simple private message would have been the best way to handle this. Producers and DJs release bootlegs all the time so they shouldn't have made that big of a fuss over it.

DHindahouse said on the 3rd Sep, 2012

why the phuck would anyone want any version of anything SHM put out anyway. Its all shite.

why are all these dj's such selfish douchebags..... they're all money hungry fuckheads it seems...... i think bassnectar is one of th only ppl in this industry who isn't an egotistical fag.... i could be wrong there.... but EDM is full of 16 yr old girls..... actually 16 yr old girls would prob have more maturity....

grapsta said on the 10th Sep, 2012

They've sorted it and deleted it ...why is inthemix even reporting on it. shameless gossip.
