Above & Beyond #TATW450 locked in for India

The annual worldwide broadcast of the 50th edition of Above & Beyond’s massively popular Trance Around the World radio show for the year has always been cause for celebration, with a different country selected each time and an estimated 30 million listeners tuning in for the 8-hour broadcast. The 350th episode in Los Angeles in 2010 saw the #TATW350 Twitter hashtag become the platform’s highest trending topic, while the 400th episode in Beirut last year saw Twitter saturated so heavily that #TATW400 was eventually removed several hours in.
Hot on the heels of Monday’s news that Above & Beyond will be returning to Australia in 2013, Indian fans are reaching for the lasers with the news that #TATW450 will be held in the world’s second biggest country in early November, with the UK trance trio of Jono, Tony and Paavo continuing their association with India that began all the way back back in 2000 when they named their Anjunabeats label after a beach in Goa. It’s since proved to be one of genre’s most enduring stables, and a natural home for some of trance’s most cutting-edge talent.
“India, its people and music have always had a special place in our hearts,” Paavo Siljamaki said in a statement on the Trance Around The World website this week. “Not only does the dance music culture span thousands of years there, we’ve witnessed incredible growth of the electronic music there since we first started Anjunabeats. TATW450 will be broadcast from the country that was the starting point for everything we do. Let your friends know, join us online and together in India we’ll all make this our biggest global celebration to date.”
TAT450 will see A&B teaming up with Indian promoters Submerge, and it’ll no doubt prove a massive coup for the crew also responsible for the country’s massive Sunburn festivals. “Ten years ago when we started a dance music collective called Submerge, we never expected to get this far this soon,” Submerge founder Nikhil Chinapa said this week. “The support that Above & Beyond have extended to the scene in India has been critical in bringing about this change. TATW has thousands of fans across India and it has been a key factor in educating and entertaining fans of dance music across the country.”
