Richie Hawtin and Luciano team up for historic Ibiza bash

In an Ibiza season that has been positively overflowing with techno and underground house, one of the hottest tickets has been the Thursday night double-header of Luciano’s residency at the glittering open-air Ushuaia Beach Hotel from 5pm, followed by crossing the road at midnight to Space Nightclub for Richie Hawtin’s ENTER night that was launched this year. This Thursday night 13th September, the two parties will be joining forces in a special day/night event, which will see the resident DJs from each event performing across both of the venues.
Hyped to the max as a “historic collaboration” between Hawtin’s Minus and Luciano’s Cadenza record labels, it’s been pitched as a party that “will put aside island politics” for one special bender, allowing punters to purchase a single ticket that will allow them to kick off proceedings at 5pm in Ushuaia, and take it all the way through until 7.30am at Space the following morning.
While at first glance it might not seem that startlingly different from your typical Thursday evening of debauchery in Playa d’en Bossa, what’s truly tantalising is the prospect of Hawtin and Luciano performing back-to-back with each other at their respective parties; a possibility that has been all but promised in the evening’s promotional flyer.
The impending mayhem this Thursday night comes at the business end of what’s already been a spectacularly successful season for Hawtin, in particular. His new ENTER night has easily been one of the biggest new hits in Ibiza in 2012, a fact that ITM can personally attest to after attending a recent particularly rammed Thursday night at Space Nightclub.
It’s an achievement that has no doubt been greatly assisted by a characteristically colossal effort from the Minus marketing team, which has seen Richie Hawtin and his ENTER residents’ every move documented during the summer; and subsequently splashed all over Facebook and YouTube, in a masterful takeover of social media.
