The legendary Bestival took over England’s Isle of Wright for four big days at the end of last week. But sadly, the end to what should have been a great 2012 edition for the long-running festival has been marred by tragedy. A bus departing the festival site has crashed, killing three and injuring several others.

Close to midnight on Monday September 10, the 51-seater bus struck a tree and overturned near Surrey. “Our thoughts are with the relatives of those affected by this tragic accident,” Bestival announced on their Facebook last night. “We are currently liasing with Surrey Police to establish the facts. A casualty bureau number has been set up and people concerned about passengers on board the coach should call 0800 056 0154”. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

This year’s Bestival welcomed over 50,000 through its gates and featured performances from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Soulwax, Hot Chip, Orbital, Major Lazer and The xx.
