Summadayze Melbourne's 2013 lineup is here!

Image for Summadayze Melbourne's 2013 lineup is here!

It’s here! After a mega 2012 edition that celebrated the New Year with the likes of Pendulum, Snoop Dogg, Moby and Calvin Harris along for the ride, summer party fixture Summadayze and it’s Gold Coast incarnation Summafieldayze has announced the lineup for 2013 and lucky for us, it’s huge.

Yep, yesterday’s leak M.I.A. is there, back in Australia for the first time since Big Day Out 2011. She’s joined by the mighty Chemical Brothers at the top of the bill with a DJ set, the legendary British duo as worthy a headliner as they come. Sure to be a huge drawcard is Knife Party, the Pendulum side-project who’ve wasted no time becoming one of the most hyped acts of 2012 after drawing huge crowds at Future Music Festival earlier this year. Melbourne can also look forward to a visit from Fedde Le Grand, a Mark Ronson DJ set and German house duo Booka Shade.

Summadayze has also snagged the long-awaited Maya Jane Coles booking, the esteemed Londoner finally locked in her for first Australian visit. Then there’s Eddie Halliwell, AN21 & Mark Vangeli and Carl Craig with his 69 live show, as well as Frenchie Breakbot, whizz Erol Alkan and Hudson Mohawke.

The lineup comes a day after Future Entertainment, the people behind Summadayze and Summafieldayze, announced they are partnering with EMI to form the new label Future Music. “On a local level, we know there are so many great DJs and producers in Australia doing great things. We want to discover them, help them develop, release their music and hopefully see them perform on our festival stages,” Future head Brett Robinson told inthemix.

“For music fans, each year we present a selection of worlds the most diverse range of artists at our festivals each year. A lot of people discover acts and become their fans at our festivals. Others just have an amazing experience. We want to give them a way of living that festival experience each day via our label. Release music for them to listen to each day by the big acts they love, the emerging acts they love discovering and providing compilations and bundles of music under the Future Music banner they can trust is going to be what they want to listen to.” All in all, Summa 2013 is looking tight – check out the full thing as well as dates and venues below.

Summadayze can be a fantastic day in the sun with some friends but its a festival with an identity crisis and a complete lack of vision.

I'll go, because I always end up there, but I am not really that impressed, last year was amazing, I saw so many acts I'd never seen before, I guess Kimbra M.I.A might be great live, but ATM I am just whelmed.

Chems DJ sets are usually pretty awesome. I saw them at Fabric a couple of times, lots of techno, lots of acid.

Fingers crossed for a MJC club show.

Pretty crappy line up to be honest and Perth's venue is Pattersons Stadium, thats terrible! A couple years ago, the reason i went to Summerdayze was half due to it being on the foreshore!
