Summafieldayze 2013 lineup is here!

Image for Summafieldayze 2013 lineup is here!

It’s here! After a mega 2012 edition that celebrated the New Year with the likes of Pendulum, Snoop Dogg, Moby and Calvin Harris along for the ride, summer party fixture Summadayze and it’s Gold Coast incarnation Summafieldayze has announced the lineup for 2013 and lucky for us, it’s huge.

Yep, yesterday’s leak M.I.A. is there, back in Australia for the first time since Big Day Out 2011. She’s joined by the mighty Chemical Brothers at the top of the bill with a DJ set, the legendary British duo as worthy a headliner as they come. Summafieldayze boasts Brits Hot Chip and SBTRKT, while the Gold Coast can also look forward to a visit from Fedde Le Grand, a Mark Ronson DJ set and an appearance by German house duo Booka Shade.

Summafieldayze has also snagged the long-awaited Maya Jane Coles booking, the esteemed Londoner finally locked in her for first Australian visit. Then there’s Eddie Halliwell, AN21 & Mark Vangeli and Carl Craig with his 69 live show, as well as Frenchie Breakbot, whizz Erol Alkan and Hudson Mohawke.

The lineup comes a day after Future Entertainment, the people behind Summadayze and Summafieldayze, announced they are partnering with EMI to form the new label Future Music. “On a local level, we know there are so many great DJs and producers in Australia doing great things. We want to discover them, help them develop, release their music and hopefully see them perform on our festival stages,” Future head Brett Robinson told inthemix.

“For music fans, each year we present a selection of worlds the most diverse range of artists at our festivals each year. A lot of people discover acts and become their fans at our festivals. Others just have an amazing experience. We want to give them a way of living that festival experience each day via our label. Release music for them to listen to each day by the big acts they love, the emerging acts they love discovering and providing compilations and bundles of music under the Future Music banner they can trust is going to be what they want to listen to.” All in all, Summa 2013 is looking tight – check out the full thing as well as dates and venues below.

I find Araabmuzik to be a interesting addition to the lineup, one would hope they had some serious cameras setup to catch his hammering the mpc.

Why no Knife Party for the Gold Coast?

So, Future want to foster and promote a healthy dance scene in Australia? Putting on Booka Shade, Maya Jane and/or Dislclosure sideshows would be a great start.

Really good lineup. Probably the most up-to-date lineup I've seen in Australia for the past few years.

Scuba
Erol Alkan
Chemical Brothers
Mya Jane Coles
Aeroplane
Jesse Rose
Carl Craig
Danny Daze

Fresh, fresh, fresh!!

And so there should be. No one listens to trance anymore.

Really frustrating that Adelaide pays same ticket cost and misses out on key acts once again. I would happily pay an additional 60% on my ticket price if I was able to see SBTRKT & Araabmuzik live
