Champagne corks are popping right now in Sydney, as the celebrations continue at the 2012 inthemix awards. The host of winners have just been announced, so to see all the results in one place head straight to the inthemix awards site.

After ascending to the top spot in 2011, Queensland club mainstays The Stafford Brothers held firm to the mantle of Australia’s Favourite DJ in the public-voted category. “It’s amazing news,” The Staffords told inthemix from the U.S. “We didn’t expect this for the second year in a row, especially after spending so much time away from home. We are really thankful that everyone came out and showed their support. We just wish we were there for the party!”

All that time spent away from home mainly revolved around the duo’s new digs in L.A., just a short flight away from their new residency at Marquee in Las Vegas. The guys have also just signed a major record deal and kept up an industrious work-rate in the studio. They’ve recently remixed artists as wide-ranging as Snoop Dogg, Timbaland and Wolfgang Gartner, so expect the Staffords to keep rising over the next 12 months. The national top 5 saw a shake-up in 2012, with trance success story MaRLo ascending to the #2 spot and world-conquering electro-house gun Tommy Trash leaping from his 2011 position of #18 to #3. The top 5 is rounded out by a couple of popular Sydney identities, Nukewood and Timmy Trumpet.

The public-voted Favourite Major Festival award saw Stereosonic and Future Music Festival go head-to-head across the state categories, while Canberra’s summer kick-off Foreshore picked up the honour in the ACT. For years, Dutch titans Armin van Buuren and Tiesto have traded the top spot in the Favourite International Act category, but 2012 saw a changing of the guard. The public votes pushed Swedish wunderkind Avicii into the #1 spot, followed by Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia. Armin and Tiesto slotted into fourth and fifth position consecutively.

This year, the inthemix awards pool widened to include a host of industry-voted honours. In the Breakthrough Artist category, industry heads rallied behind Perth-born ‘seizure music’ specialists Knife Party, with Sydney impresario Flume the runner-up. It was always going to be fascinating to see who the industry voted the Most Influential Australian in Dance Music, and this time the nod went to a DJ-producer rapidly ascending the international ranks: Tommy Trash. There are so many more winners to get acquainted with, so hurry along now to the full results.

Don't know what's more of a laugh, the public results or the industry results. Presets for the best live act? Is that some type of piss take or what?

...oh god. Really? These are *really* the results? A huge part of me just died inside... Time to rename this whole procedure from 'inthemix awards' to 'shitty commercial crap that roid munching gorillas and their ganga girlfriends love awards'.

@DJ KnightSA, if you're using Adblock, pause it and they should come up fine. Not sure why but that seemed to be the issue for me.

Of course Future and Stereosonic take the spot for top festivals when going by public voting, they have 40,000 more people going than any other festival, despite having barely a percent of the quality.

Oh no popular acts won a competition that is voted by the general public this has to be the first time in history this has ever happened, I demand a recount

I was sure all the awards would go to my favourite collection of obscure underground boundary pushing artists

This is the same kind of thing that happened in the top 100 DJ polls last year. All the young teeny boppers listening to mainstream commercial club music are bombarded with David Guetta songs, so thus they all voted for him cause thats all they knew.

Stafford Brothers cheesy reality TV series that showcases Stafford Brothers, Timmy Trumpet and Brooke Evers, brought attention to them for no real sound reason and made all the young teeny boppers vote for them.

Having said that I am glad MaRLo has jumped to the #2 spot, he deserves it. Still some taste out there!

Agreed on MarLo, he's had a big year and definitely deserves to be up there.

3 hardstyle/hard dance entries, 2 in the top 20. Big ups Code Black/Toneshifterz/S Dee.
