It was a picture-perfect Sydney Spring afternoon that greeted Parklife over the weekend, and the Kakadu Stage got going in style with Lee Foss at 2pm, followed by Art Department. With both acts doing an hour apiece, fans are no doubt hanging out for another session with the festival’s house drawcards. It’s a good thing, then, that both Foss and Art Department have a night free in Sydney this Friday 5 October. Presented by Finely Tuned, the double-bill will happen at ivy pool, with doors opening at 8pm. Entry is on a first-come-first-served basis. The local cast includes Brohn, Alley Oop, Shivers, Gabby, T-Boy, Ben Ashton and Alan Thomas.
2012 has already been a whirlwind year for both these acts. Lee Foss continues to amass new followers through his Hot Creations label, as well as the Hot Natured collaboration alongside Jamie Jones. Art Department – the combination of Canadian vet Kenny Glasgow and his protégé Jonny White – is always on the move, having spent a good chunk of the Northern summer travelling Europe and the U.S. In 2012, their production work has included a hook-up with Konrad Black on Graveyard Tan, Crosstown Rebels release Touch You Gently and a feature spot on Jamie Jones’s Our Time In Liberty.
Over on the mainstage at Sydney Parklife, electro trailblazer Jacques Lu Cont was tasked with the 5pm slot before Nero, Justice and The Presets. This Friday 5 October, he’ll also be backing up for his only Sydney sideshow down at Chinese Laundry. The man is sure to be stocked up with new weapons, having spent 2012 getting back in the swing of things. Jacques Lu Cont’s Essential Mix, posted below, swings between his own studio work and inclusions from the likes of Etienne De Crecy, Digitalism, Herve and Pryda.
