Hot Chip have a pretty full Australian New Year’s festival itinerary ahead of them, sharing the love around the country with dates at Falls Festival, Summafieldayze and Field Day. But lucky for us, those aren’t the only shows the Brits are playing while they’re in town – we’re psyched to announce that Hot Chip are also treating us to a trio of sideshows, presented by inthemix.

The troupe will be hitting Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne from January 6, bringing Melbourne guys World’s End Press with them for support. It’s a good way to kick off 2013 and it comes off the back of a very good 2012 for Joe Goddard and co, the group releasing their fifth album In Our Heads in June and gearing up to drop an expanded edition of the LP with remixes from the likes of Major Lazer and Caribou’s alter-ego Daphni on November 16. Between that and a back-catalogue that boasts classics like Ready For The Floor and Over And Over, there’s certainly no shortage of floor-filling set material.

The last time Hot Chip were out our way was for Splendour in the Grass in 2010, a set that in the words of our reviewer drew the “biggest crowd of the festival, with the Mix-Up tent packed to within an inch of its life”. No doubt, the shows will be just as in-demand this time ‘round, so it’s worth noting that tickets go on sale Monday October 29 from 9am.

Hot Chip sideshow dates:

Sunday January 6 – The Tivoli, Brisbane
Tuesday January 8 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Wednesday January 9 – The Palace, Melbourne

Hot Chip are the most important band in the world right now, and my equal favorite artist from the last decade, I've seen them every time they've been here and will be as much as possible this time. Last Enmore gig was prob the best time i've seen as well, cant wait!!!!!

Most important band in the world right now? They're very good, yes, but that's an, umm, interesting statement.
