UPDATE: If you missed the bright-and-early broadcast this morning, you’re in luck; scroll down for the full 90 minute recording of Deadmau5’s set, followed by video.
Last week, Deadmau5 sat down for an interview with US internet radio station KCRW and talked-up his new live show concept. “At this festival in Canada called The Veld, everyone thought it was going to be the new stage,” he teased. “But we couldn’t do the production we really wanted. It’s so hard not to drop what [the new stage concept] is. It is so bloody amazing, and I can’t believe no one has thought of it.” That interview preceded an intimate Los Angeles show for 200 fans at Sonos Studio in Hollywood, which along with the interview all took place with the cameras rolling. US site Magnetic Mag streamed the interview portion of the video last week, but KCRW have been holding onto the live set for just a little while longer.
But bright and early tomorrow morning (and we mean early), KCRW is finally steaming Deadmau5’s full 90-minute set. From 5.15am tomorrow morning AEST, you can head to the KCRW website to watch the DJ set as part of the station’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” show. It might not be the full live shebang Joel Zimmerman talked up his plans for in the interview, but he did manage to squeeze a mini version of his signature LED-panelled cube onto the set.
If you want a sneak peek at what to expect tomorrow morning, KCRW have released a portion of the set – a one song video of Zimmerman dropping the Tommy Trash remix of The Veldt (sans mau5head) which you can watch below. So to kick your Friday morning off in a big way, set your alarm and head here from 5.15am tomorrow to catch the stream.
