Dutch fast-riser Hardwell has wasted no time working through an impressive list of achievements: he’s won the support of Tiesto, collaborated with Showtek, Nicky Romero and Chuckie and taken the stage at mega-festivals like Electric Zoo, Creamfields UK and Tomorrowland. Now, the Future Music Festival-bound producer’s got another notch for his belt: his first ever Essential Mix.
Hardwell paid Pete Tong a visit over the weekend to deliver his first BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, a banging 120-minutes that spanned the likes of Example, Knife Party, Porter Robinson and Skrillex. “I started as a producer and DJ at the age of 12 and when I was 14 years old I signed my first record deal here in Holland,” Hardwell introduced himself. “My style is in between progressive and electro, but I love to think outside of the box so let’s just say I play Hardwell music. The next two hours will be a showcase of my favourite records, my original productions, a lot of new mashups and even a few special ones just for this Essential Mix and of course, a lot of unreleased stuff from my label Revealed Recordings.”
