Techno devotees have been waiting a while for Luke Slater’s return to Australia. The UK trailblazer is locked in for a New Year’s visit, playing a string of sure-to-be-heaving club shows and Peats Ridge Festival outside Sydney. Now the tour has had an upgrade, with Slater set to bring his Planetary Assault Systems live project here.

“It’s been so good touring the P.A.S. live shows, I thought it would be really cool to bring a version of it down to Australia,” Slater says. “I haven’t been the Oz way for quite a few years and when I played there live last time, we were carting three quarters of a ton of equipment with us. Luckily there’s no need for that these days. The future is live performance for me and I am looking forward to rocking the tour!”

In 2009, Slater delivered the Planetary Assault Systems album, Temporary Suspension, on the Ostgut Ton label, followed in 2011 by The Messenger. The P.A.S. live show has since travelled far and wide, shaking up Berlin’s techno instiution Berghain, Tomorrowland, Time Warp, Amnesia, ADE, Fabric, Melt!, Mysteryland, I Love Techno and Awakenings to name just a few. Check out the video below from Awakenings 2011 in Amsterdam to see witness what we’re in for.

Tour dates:

Friday 28 December – Brown Alley, Melbourne
