Deadmau5 hypes 2013 live show: “All I can say is, holy f*ck”

The last time we saw Deadmau5 ‘round these parts was on the 2011 Creamfields tour, closing the mainstage with his Rubik’s Cube live show. From there, the man in the mau5-head Joel Zimmerman continued to add new firepower to the set-up. Lollapalooza in August 2011 was the first run of the newly jacked-up Deadmau5 show, which added three video cubes encircling the central podium, a towering screen as a backdrop and four LED-lined scaffolds. As we pointed out at the time, it looked pretty insane.
At the tail end of 2011, inthemix sent one lucky competition winner to New York’s Roseland Ballroom to witness the live show at full capacity. “A 100,000-watt visual mind-fuck on crack,” is how he summed it up. “It was tied perfectly to mind-blowing lights and a visual display like I’ve never seen before and all the while there was a bopping yellow mau5 head symmetrically centered in the booth.”
Since that incarnation of the Cube, though, the full Deadmau5 production has been lying low. In 2013, Zimmerman is returning with something even more spectacular. He’s set to headline Miami’s Ultra Music Festival in March alongside a huge line-up, and you can expect more dates to follow.
As it turns out, this tour is going to be the biggest yet. “I just saw preliminary renders/movies of the new HUGE stage for the next big 2013 tour, and all I can say is HOLY FUCK,” Deadmau5 told his followers. “Wow. My god, I’ve NEVER seen ANYTHING like this in my life, and I can NOT wait to unleash this insanity upon the world. Stoked beyond belief.”
Those are the kind of superlatives fans will want to hear – and fingers will now be crossed for a visit to Australia before the year is out.
