For the dance music minded, this year’s Big Day Out is a must-attend. With the Bloody Beetroots, Kaskade, Crystal Castles and Nicky Romero leading the charge in the Boiler Room, there’s plenty worth catching on the bill. But while being in the audience is one thing, being on the bill with names like that is another entirely – so we were stoked to announce last month that we’ve teamed up with the festival to give Australia’s undiscovered DJ talent the opportunity to play at Big Day Out this year. Now after listening to over 100 entries, we’re even more excited to announce the winners.
Drumroll please, the winners for each state are as follows: in NSW, the honours have gone to Kalcic, MoniKer came out on top in VIC, DJ Keyno won in QLD, Bunj in WA and last but by no means least, SA’s victor is Anarchy. Congrats, guys! We were blown away by the quality of the mixes entered in the competition, so coming out on top is no mean feat. As for the biggest trend in the submissions? No competition, the far-and-away most mixed track was Thrift Shop by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Again, a big congratulations to all the winners – if you’re having a Big Day Out this month, be sure to catch your state’s winner in action at the Red Bull No Noise Nightclub.
