Kavinsky set to drop debut album in February

A couple of years on from Kavinsky landing himself on high rotation with the Drive soundtrack gem Nightcall, Vincent Belorgey (as he’s known to his Mum) has announced he’s gearing up to release his first full-length album. Titled Outrun, Kavinsky’s big debut will be dropping through Casablanca Records on February 26.
Kavinsky’s recruited Ed Banger dude/longtime pal SebastiAn to produce, meaning we can probably expect more of that signature French electro. Further details on the album, however, are being kept under wraps for the time being. But the debut’s certainly been a while in the making: over the past few years, the Frenchman’s been hard at work carving out a place in his homeland’s still-chugging electro scene. As well as acting in Mr. Oizo’s 2007 film Steak, Belorgey’s released the EPs Teddy Boy, 1986 and Blazer and remixed the likes of A-Trak, Sebastien Tellier and Klaxons, winning support from Bromance head Brodinski along the way. Then there was that time he supported big guns Daft Punk on tour, going back-to-back with SebastiAn in Sydney before the iconic pair came on stage. Most recently, he’s dropped the first single from the album, Protovision – listen to it below.
But lucky for us, Outrun ’s only one of many upcoming 2013 releases inthemix is getting excited for. To cherrypick a few, we can also look forward to the first album in seven years from Swedish recluses The Knife, the debut album from 2012 breakout stars Disclosure and, of course, the (likely) return of French overlords Daft Punk. Check out the full list of ITM’s most anticipated 2013 releases below.
