Above & Beyond set times announced

This weekend, esteemed trance team Above & Beyond arrives in Australia for a headline tour. Sydney’s show is sold out, and the other cities are close behind. Now the set times have been announced so you can map out your night. Each city sees Anjunabeats prodigy Andrew Bayer warming up for the headliners, a task he’s sure to handle with finesse. Then, after Above & Beyond has wound up its two-and-a-half hour set, it’s over to Norin & Rad to bring it home.

There’s a note for Melbourne attendees, too: arrive before 10pm to the event, or you will experience delays due to other events being held in the area. “We strongly suggest public transport is taken to the event to avoid disappointment, due to limited public parking facilities at the arena,” Totem Onelove has added.

“Andrew Bayer is just mastering his new album at the moment, and it’s even more out there than the last,” Above & Beyond’s Paavo Siljamäki told inthemix this week. “We love him for that – he’s a visionary songwriter and producer. With Norin & Rad, we play all their music all the time, so when they’re on after us we can’t actually play their records. Maybe it wasn’t a clever move! They’ve been playing some really interesting sets. We’re all different – Andrew, us and Norin & Rad – and there’s a natural progression there in what we all play.”

While the trio’s next album is in its “very, very early” stages of production, we can expect to hear new music from the forthcoming Anjunabeats Volume 10 compilation, which arrives on March 4. “We reached out far and wide across our label family and asked our favourite producers to create something extra special for the compilation,” Above & Beyond wrote. Those 30 exclusive tracks come from the likes of Arty, Andrew Bayer, Norin & Rad, Boom Jinx, Maor Levi, Kyau & Albert, Jaytech and many more. There’s also four new Above & Beyond productions – including an instrumental club track – on the volume.

2.5 hrs, this is shocking
Locals chew up possibilities of longer n greater sets :(

lawlietskyy said on the 23rd Jan, 2013

True, but A&B hardly do long sets for as long as i can remember

Can't wait for the Melbourne show!

josh_goods said on the 23rd Jan, 2013

that definitely says more about the state of trance dj's and trance sets than local dj's and expectations... the original trance djs (sasha, digweed etc) are still playing long sets, but mainstream trance likes to smash it out in an hour

Seriously, giving any DJ that doesn't play top40 a 30min set, let alone a trance event is tragic. They get to play like 5 tracks.

4am finish?
How will everyone get home, trains dont start again until 8am.

james223 said on the 23rd Jan, 2013

Kinda bs how we paid half the amount last year for basically the same set times etc....

*insert whinge here [..............]

I think A&B will smash it - forget the tragedy of Creamfields, the sound was appalling and anyway - The Horden Rocks - getting home? Fly or stagger !! Yeee Haa

fucken 4am finish is a disgrace.. but knowing perth metros thats prolly a blessing since the nazi security are known to close off all the upper levels early anyway, killing off any vibe.

lawlietskyy said on the 23rd Jan, 2013

It's Perth. Be thankful they even visited.

Chemo said on the 24th Jan, 2013

Pretty happy with those times- at least you now know that you don't need to arrive at the Hordern any earlier than 10pm. The 3pm finish sucks a bit given it's a public holiday the next day but it's probably due to noise issues and whinging old f %@s living in the area.

hardly a PvD 6hr set is it - glad i didnt pay 100bux for a ticket now - Sasha and Andy C will be a million times better than this.

pumbz said on the 24th Jan, 2013

Gayyy, in every sense of the word
Long gone are kick ass sets, longest ive endured is armin only apart from that, 7 hrs of schulz for 40 bux.... And that was epic
Promoters are just cashing in trying fit in as much as possible. Comparsion is like a track being produced, put too much in and its shit, less is best.... Promoters step up your fucking game.

its a radio edit version of a proper trance gig

Whinge all you want, but brisbane last night was fucking awesome.

alistairrrr said on the 27th Jan, 2013

2.5 hours......that is fucking pathetic.....where have the 5,6,7,8, hour set days gone??? Melbourne locals only getting 45 mins and there are playing vs sets? whats that like 8 tracks? pffffft fucking lame. Above & Beyond should be ashamed of themselves, they have not produced anything worthwhile in years anyway, not even trance....
