Ultra Music Festival 2013 announces ‘Phase 3’ line-up

When Miami’s Ultra Music Festival dropped its long list of ‘Phase 2’ line-up additions, there were still some blurry spots on the poster waiting to be revealed. Now comes ‘Phase 3’ round of names, with new additions for both Ultra weekends: March 15-17 and 22-24. As it now stands, the line-up covers the biggest DJs (Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, et al.), the live return of Deadmau5, young stars like Porter Robinson, Zedd, Alesso, Hardwell and Arty, live acts as divergent as Snoop Dogg and Nicolas Jaar, plus themed arenas from Toolroom Knights, Carl Cox and Friends, Space Ibiza and more. In a word, it’s giant.

So who’s on Phase 3? Weekend 1 artists on the Bedrock Stage are Marco Bailey, Christian Smith, Pig and Dan, Henry Saiz (live) and Quivver, while the UMF Radio stage will feature Bass Station artists like DJ Marky, Tantrum Desire, Dieselboy and Black Sun Empire. Over on the Toolroom Knights’ stage, Mark Knight is joined by the likes of Sander Kleinenberg, Chus & Ceballos, Butch, Friendly Fires in DJ mode and Doorly. Then there’s Alex Gaudino, Green Velvet, Tommie Sunshine, Steve Bug and Kiwi drum & bass authority Concord Dawn joining the party.

In 2012, UMF drew over 150,000 punters to downtown Miami across the weekend. The towering mainstage was newly decked out with an LED roof and video screens at every angle, while the ‘Ultra Mega-Structure’ (home to Carl Cox & Friends and A State Of Trance 550 across the weekend) was also lit up by a lattice of LEDs and sci-fi shapes along the ceiling and around the stage. With a whole lot of people spread across three days, they filled every corner of the vast site with neon costumes, bikinis, Dayglo jewelry, cut-off shorts and handmade signs with messages like ‘I Love Cox’ and ‘All Hail Avicii’. With 2013 selling swiftly, you can expect another at-capacity event.
