On Friday 12 April, four distinguished acts will come together under the roof of Melbourne’s Brown Alley for Novel event smalltown. Leading the way is Berlin luminary Ellen Allien, whose Bpitch Control label continues to be a leader in house and techno. With a strong run of artist albums behind her, Allien’s latest outing is the LISm LP, co-produced by Bruno Pronsato, which is based on a soundtrack written for Drama per Musica, a dance piece by French choreographers Alexandre Roccoli and Sevérine Rième.
Also on the smalltown line-up is the esteemed house prodcucer Move D, who will arrive in Australia direct from a busy tour run across Europe. With his uber-deep releases on Electric Minds, Workshop, Running Back, Modern Love and other renowned imprints, it’s sure to be a special session from Move D. After the dates, you can hear a live set from Magic Mountain High, Move D’s team-up with Juju & Jordash, recorded at Berlin’s Panoramabar.
Also on board is house authority Jimpster, who is set to release his next album Porchlight & Rockingchairs through his Freerange label in May. Then finally there’s the addition of Minus secret weapon Barem. A big night at smalltown, then. Stay tuned for more dates.
