Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell announce Departures project

It’s almost a month on from the last-ever Swedish House Mafia set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and the DJs are keeping downtime to a minimum. Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell have turned their focus full-time to DJing solo, running their record labels and making music, but two-thirds of the team is getting back together over the European summer.
As posted by the decadent, much-talked-about daytime party spot Ushuaïa Beach Hotel this week: “The rumors are true…Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso have confirmed their new Departures concept will be at Ushuaïa from 12th June every Wednesday.” It’s still be revealed whether the parties will see the two DJs going back-to-back, or alternating weeks.
Ingrosso and Axwell, who are both managed by ATM, have of course been working together on tracks recently, including the collab that opened the One Last Tour sets, We Come, We Rave, We Love. The pair is also on the roster for new Las Vegas venture LIGHT at the Mandalay Bay. Meanwhile, Angello is relaunching the “deeper, techier” label X, an offshoot from his Size Records stable.
“It’s bittersweet,” Ingrosso told inthemix earlier this year of Swedish House Mafia’s parting. “But also, it needed to be done. Because if we never made the decision to split up, I don’t think we would have ever done the world tour. Because having an individual career and a Swedish House Mafia career – even if our Swedish House Mafia career is way bigger than the individual ones – I think that having two careers, both growing at the same time is like having two families.”
