UPDATE: Big Day Out have revealed that they’ll be announcing their “amazing, world dominating’ line-up at 8pm on Wednesday July 31.

Big Day Out have been forced to announce their dates early after an event poster accidentally went up early. According to the poster, we can also expect the first line-up announcement on Wednesday, July 31.

The posters were supposed to go up Monday, but one was accidentally put up early underneath an overpass on Swan Street in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond. The Big Day Out’s director of marketing and PR Johanna Greenway confirmed the dates to themusic.com.au. “Posters were to go up Monday – guess now we’ll put them up everywhere. But at least everyone knows to save the date for line-up announcement,” she said.

Next year’s Big Day Out will kick off on Friday, January 17 in Auckland at its new home at Western Springs, a natural amphitheatre in the inner-city suburb of Grey Lynn. It’ll next travel to the Gold Coast (January 19), Melbourne (January 24), Sydney (January 26 and 27), Adelaide (January 31) and Perth (February 2). The Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium appears to be the only venue locked in, with Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth all listed as TBC.

This year, BDO delivered an impressive Boiler Room line-up for dance fans. Leading the charge was Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo’s powerhouse show the Bloody Beetroots, backed up by Kaskade, Nicky Romero, Crystal Castles, Pretty Lights and more. Big Day Out have confirmed we’ll find out announce times and on-sale information Monday.

So, who can we expect in the Boiler Room this year? With so many big-name acts angling for visits over the Australian summer, it’s anyone’s guess. However, fans can always look to the 2013 Lollapalooza line-up for clues (the Chicago institution is considered the “sister festival” of the Big Day Out after its promoter C3 Presents inked a partnership with the Australian touring juggernaut). This year, the festival is welcoming Knife Party, Major Lazer, Hot Chip, Steve Angello, Dillon Francis and many more acts who’d look very comfortable on a Boiler Room bill.
