DJ Matt Kitshon is off to Melbourne after winning the Queensland heats of the Heineken Thirst DJ competition. Kitshon will go up against the other state finalists at the national final at Room 680 in Melbourne next Friday, April 30. If he wins, he gets to play alongside Tiesto, Pete Tong and Daniele Davoli when the Heineken Thirst tour kicks off next month.
Matt, who played under his alter ego D-Tek-Shon, was up against some stiff competition – Malcolm, Kristian Hernandez, Mark Briais, and Reekay Garcia. The state final involved playing a 15 minute set to industry judges and the Monastery crowd. “I crossed the board,” Matt says of his winning set.”I started out with breaks, rolled into some Hip Hop and drum and bass, and ended with a bit of rock and roll - The Clash’s London Burning. It seemed to go down pretty well.”
The Heineken Thirst tour comes to Family on Sunday May 2.
