A panel of dance music industry specialists have unanimously chosen these 8 state finalists who could begin realising their dreams of dj superstardom and recognition this Saturday, April 24th at Garage, courtesy of Heineken’s search for Australia’s ultimate dj’s….Heineken Found @ Thirst.
This stage is crucial for these hopefuls and they need to pull out the absolute big guns for their 15 minute, 5 track set, to grab their place in the National finals to be held in Melbourne on April 30 @ Room 680.
The South Australian finalists are:
Cheeky B: Already winning the Most Popular Up and Coming DJ Award at the 2003 SA Dance Music Awards, this chick’s well on her way to NRG and Hardcore Heaven
Lachlan Pender: Having just won Most Popular Up and Coming DJ at the very recent 2004 SA Dance Music Awards, Lachlan has his finger in many dance music pies. He moderates the SA inthemix forums, works for a record retailer and plays some damn fine breaks!
Staen 1: As Australia’s 2003 DMC winner, and ITF Beat Juggling Champion, he’s the only South Aussie ever to win these titles, and he holds them them both at the same time! Staen 1 will certainly be the one to beat on the technical level.
Professor X: Although known for his drum n bass and hard house deliveries, the Prof was awarded SA’s Most Popular House Dj in 2003 for his smooth beats.
Patch: Just few nights ago awarded SA’s Most Popular Drum n Bass dj at the 2004 awards, this boy knows how to work a crowd! Part of the DJ’s Delight crew, Patch has supported some of the world’s best drum n bass acts at clubs and parties across the state.
Karl Griffin aka K2: This lad has been described as very young and very fierce. K2 is the youngest DJ to ever play at the Big Day Out and could be the youngest to take out the comp at Garage this weekend.
DJ Lobot: A self confessed music junkie, he keeps his music smooth and funked out. Lobot is one half of production team LaHonda vs DaLobot and has his own electronic playground: Gumball Studio.
Ben Watt: A well respected regular at Zoot’s on Thursday’s Ben plans to smooth the mood and the crowd funked by spinning the punters some funked up house.
On April 30th, the National winner will be selected by Pete Tong and Tiesto, two of the world’s finest. The winner will be awarded $2000 in prize money and the awesome support slot for Pete and Tiesto in their Australian Henieken Thirst Tour.
Itm-tv will be there recording all the action as it happens, so, keep your eyes right here on itm for winner’s announcements!
