Having begun in 1994 as a way for more experimental and unconventional music to gain a platform, Whatismusic? returns again in 2005 with the Whatismusiconathon tour featuring The Residents, Chicks on Speed, Pan Sonic, Sunn O))) and Black Dice, with more still to be announced.
The tour visits Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and will feature performers from around the globe, including Finland, Germany, New Zealand, USA and Japan. Spread across a range of rooms, the festival aims to “challenge preconceptions as to what in fact constitutes music”. The festival will be headlined by famed audio/visual group The Residents, who will close the show with a 90 minute performance.
