Having run in 2004 as an invite only ‘semi-professional’ DJ competition, in 2005 the Heineken Thirst search for undiscovered has broadened its scope and will be open to amateur DJs as well as those considered semi-professional. The competition was launched in 2002, and since then it has directly boosted the careers of over 50 DJs around the globe, with many receiving high profile gigs, production and remix work as a result.
Andrew Padula, the recipient of the Australian Heineken Thirst title in 2004, has seen his profile increase dramatically since winning the comp, with personal highlights in the DJ’s rapidly escalating career including trips to Singapore and Malaysia to compete in Heineken Thirst South East Asian regional finals, as well as sets at high profile local events like Two Tribes, Godskitchen, and Summadayze.
In addition to a support slot alongside Erick Morillo and Roger Sanchez at the Heineken Thirst main event in Sydney on Saturday April 24th, the final winner will also receive a DJ prize pack containing a Pioneer CDJ deck, Pioneer digital effects unit and Ableton music production software (the one made famous by Sasha!)
