There’s been big changes to Infusion’s upcoming Brisbane gig, originally planned to be held at The Rev with support from young guns Death:Wolf!
Firstly, Death:Wolf! have sadly split, so local Brisbane faves Soma Rasa (pictured, left) have been welcomed on board for what promises to be one of the live dance events of 2005. And secondly, the gig has been moved to a bigger space with a bigger sound system – The Arena!
Infusion, arguably Australia’s number one live dance act and fresh from rocking audiences at the SXSW and Miami Winter Music Conference, hit Brisbane for the first time with their new five piece outfit. Now with two guitarists added, Infusion take on a fuller sound to devastate even further. Riding high on the success of their critically acclaimed second album ‘Six Feet Above Yesterday’, which has now been repackaged and features the latest single ‘Natural’.
Providing ample support for Infusion will be Soma Rasa, also in full live mode, with their stompin’ electro hybrid of breaks n’ house, pushing the boundaries of sampology, turntablism and live beats. With multiple Big Day Out, Livid, and Homebake performances behind them, including destroying the Hothouse at this year’s BDO in Hazard Brothers mode, Soma Rasa are electro phonography at its finest.
Rounding out the live action is Ponyloaf, who featured as a JJJ ‘Next Crop Artist’ earlier this year and have supported the diverse likes of Chicks on Speed and Kid 606 to Stereolab and TISM. With an ex-Regurgitator keyboardist featuring on synths, this energetic three piece have been described by inthemix as ”...sounds truly unlike any other Australian electronic outfit right now – not quite Warp Records-esque IDM, shoegazer rock or new-school breaks, but a rather fresh and unpredictable hybrid of all of the above”.
All bands will be ably supported by DJ’s Cosmo & Nearhos, Mark Briais, Electr-Ho, and Pistola, plus visual installations from Oko-T (Big Day Out 2004).
