Remember when you could get at least 20 lollies for 50c? or when your ice block had 2 sticks and you could break it in half to have an ice cream AND an ice block? Or how about when you could go to a club night and hear a variety of music over a number of different genres, not just variations of one, all in one room?
....Well party people, your dreams have been fulfilled, its time to get up …and indulge your sweet tooth.
Soren Osterman aka DJ Rasp, the man behind Vinyl Slingers and the “Vinyl Slingers presents” series, brings the next sugary sweet instalment in this series, Mixed Bag.
The inspiration for the night is simple. Variety. Just like a Cadbury’s Milk Tray or a packet of Old Time Favourites, members from some of Brisbane’s most respected and innovative crews will come together for an infused night of musical Rocky Road, each bringing their distinctive flavours and sounds.
August 19th sees the first instalment of this series, Liquorice Allsorts. Representing for the night will be members from Drop (Scott Walker, Damian Wheeler), Rude Bwoyz (Erther), Junglettes (Delahaye, Angie Summers), Hi-Grade (Frosty), Fresh and Funky(Lectre) and Vinyl Slingers themselves. Interstate support will be provided by DJ Curly from Revolver (Melb).
I asked the guys and girls a few questions. The Fantale wrapper info reads a little something like this…
1. How long has the crew/DJ been around doing gigs?
2. What’s your sound/style?
3. Brief background/ next gig?
4. What’s your favourite mixed bag lolly?
5. What sort of lolly would your crew be and why?

We’ve hosted a swag of nights at multiple venues around QLD, trying our hardest to support the local scene by encouraging other crews to play together and giving many DJs their virgin sling.
