This year’s Falls Festival in Marion Bay, Tasmania, has sold out in record time – a mere two and a half days! Fears that portions of tickets have been purchased by scalpers were countered by festival organisers in an official statement issued today, where they declared:

“We work our butts off to deliver the most accessible and best value festivals in the country so we don’t want to see anyone paying too much for a ticket. This is what we’re doing about it:

* Sales have been limited to 5 per person to reduce access for scalping;
* We’ll be monitoring advertisements for The Falls Festival tickets and will be canceling on-sold tickets. They will not be valid at the gates.
* We’ve held back an allocation of tickets to both events. We will be releasing these at a later date at the current value of a Falls Festival ticket.
* We request that all media outlets do not accept advertisements for tickets to The Falls Festival.
* To The Falls Festival fans – grab a ticket to the Victorian event while you can. * For those who miss out this year, don’t waste money on paying for a ticket from a scalper that won’t be worth a cent. Stay tuned and we will let you know when the final allocation will be released.”

First round artists for both the Marion Bay and Lorne events were announced recently, with The Dandy Warhols, Ozomatli, The Shins, Wolfmother, The Beautiful Girls, The Vasco Era, Faker, TZU and The Grates all set to appear, with many more still to be announced.

Tickets for the Victorian leg of the festival are expected to follow suit and sell out relatively soon, so if you are planning on heading along this New Years Eve don’t dilly dally too much longer!
