On Friday the 7th of April, a near-fatal car accident outside of her hometown of Port Lincoln put DJ Hayley into a coma. In her early twenties and a single mother, Hayley Dillion is a much loved member of the Lincoln community, and regular DJ at Port Lincoln’s Oceans Nightclub. Hayley was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where she remains in the spinal unit with a fractured lower back, neck and serious head injuries. She has since emerged from her coma, and is on the long road to recovery.
Good friend and Adelaide veteran DJ Josh has put a call out to all members of the South Australian dance music community to come together in support of Hayley and her young family during this troubling time. Josh has performed with Hayley on many occasions, mostly on her visits to Oceans every six weeks.
Quick to answer the call were several big names, including Australia’s highly regarded female DJ, Bexta. Bexta has agreed to play on the night (despite having not met Hayley previously) and Adelaide’s Josh, Brendan and ATB have all given their time and will play for free to help raise money to aid Hayley’s daughter and Hayley’s coming rehabilitation. Local videographer and web technician Yancey is currently establishing a web portal through which donations can be directed to Hayley and her daughter’s future welfare.
The event in Hayley’s honour will be held at Oceans in Port Lincoln on May the 21st, and will also shine a spotlight on the dangers of reckless driving on Australia’s regional roads and highways. Stay tuned to ITM for updates…
