The Roots and Lou Rhodes join Great Escape lineup

One of the world’s great hip hop live acts The Roots, along with Lou Rhodes who is best known for her sublime work as the vocalist for UK act Lamb, have both been announced as additions to the Great Escape festival that is set to take place at the Newington Armory over the Easter long weekend.

They’ll be joined by a stack of other newly announced international and local acts that include The Lemonheads, Dan Kelly, Alice Russell, Expatriate, Kaki King, Bertie Blackman, Damien Dempsey, The Exploders, Hermitude, Fourplay, Astronomy Class, Coda, The Bird, True Live, Sparkadia, The Flairz, King Tide, The Sins, Greta Gertler, Carla Werner and Waiting for Guinness.

Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Great Escape will again be held right at Newington Armory, right on the riverfront and adjacent to Sydney Olympic Park. As before, festival goers are promised a diverse experience over the three days that will take in music, art and on-site camping. Tickets go on-sale this Thursday December 14 at 9am and costs $165 + BF for a three-day pass, $75 + BF for a single-day pass and $60 + BF for a camping pass.

Acts already announced for the Great Escape include Wolfmother, Hilltop Hoods, Gomez, Missy Higgins, The Living End, Ben Kweller, John Butler Trio, Ziggy Marley, Lee Scratch Perry, Fat Freddy’s Drop, The Vines, Bob Evans, The Fumes, Fishbone, Blue King Brown and many more.
