Sick to death of substandard Sydney clubbing? The grab yourself a slice of Germany as the kids from Kinder Spiel take their playground shenanigans to the next level this weekend. They’ve already thrown four parties of quality underground electronic grooves with sets from the likes of Ben Korbel, Simon Caldwell and the Glitch DJs, but this weekend the crew behind Kinder Spiel (German for ‘childs play’ if you’re wondering) will be taking over the Performance Space in Surry Hills for something entirely different, in the form of Daycare.
While the prior Kinder Spiel parties at venues like the Burdekin have been very heads down and club orientated, the vibe at Daycare will be a little more sunsoaked and fun. They’ll be using the outdoor courtyard of the venue, with an outdoor bar, sizzling BBQs and cool electronic music playing all afternoon and well into the evening.
While the music definitely has a German focus (hence the name of the party), the organisers nonetheless aim to avoid being pigeonholed. Expect a mixture of house and techno with Kinder Spiel residents Brendan Watson, Langdon Cook and Piero on the decks as well as a special guest appearance from the Motech DJs.
If this sounds like your thing, get your German on and head down to the Performance Space, 199 Cleveland Street Surry Hills from 2pm this Saturday.
