Derrick May is one of electronic music’s greatest innovators and he’ll be back in the country during June for a national tour. He’ll be promoting his Hi-Tek-Soul concept, on which he will soon be releasing a movie detailing what it’s all about, while also celebrating 20 years of his Transmat Records label.

The idea behind May’s concept of ‘Hi-Tek-Soul’ is to push a brand of techno that puts the soul back into electronic music. He’s promoted it through his Transmat label over the last two decades as well as through a series of parties around the world, and he’ll be bringing the experience here in June.

“The music is not all four on the floor; it is everything that is electronic and soulful. Hi-Tek artists are not linear; they will take on any challenge and surprise the hell out of you,” says May.

“The idea with these parties is to bring people on board that represent something that will help to keep the real electronic movement alive. I’m giving people my personal energy, my musical history, everything I have to give.”

Catch the Hi-Tek-Soul experience at the following dates during June…

Sunday 3rd June: Capitol, Perth
Friday 8th June: Suga, Adelaide
Saturday 9th June: Chinese Laundry, Sydney
Sunday, 10th June: Miss Libertine, Melbourne
