Last night saw the celebrated return of the SA Dance Music Awards for its 10th annual ceremony. After a night of bawdy revelry and the delivery of thirty awards acknowledging our state’s most popular players, the list of winners is out for all to see. The coveted award for Most Popular DJ Overall went to the imitable Mr S, whose career behind the decks can be traced back to 1985 and spans many genres. Fittingly, Mr S was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for his contribution to the evolution of the local dance music scene. The ceremony ran smoothly with a good balanced spread of entertainment peppered throughout the night, including tight sets from winners of the Most Popular Producer award Systembot, and special guests from NZ, High Dosage. The Hilltop Hoods were duely acknowledged for their incredible year with Most Popular Live Act, and a hot improvised jam was thrown down on the night with Shep, Staen-1, Simplex and the Freefall Crew breakers leaving heads spinning on stage and off.
