James Lavelle blasts Future Music Festival

With a well worn reputation as one of the more outspoken figures in the electronic music scene, never afraid to let loose on all manner of topics, ahead of his anticipated DJ tour this weekend James Lavelle of UNKLE made his opinion known on the somewhat lukewarm response to his last tour of Australia in early 2006 as part of the Future Music Festival.

“I went and did that fucking god-awful tour, of the big DJ festival tours,” Lavelle remarked in this week’s issue of Sydney street press 3DWorld, when asked about his most recent visit to Australia. “It was fucking terrible,” he continued. “I don’t like DJ festivals. I think most of them are pretty terrible. In my experience, they all suck, DJing clubs is always better.”

Whether Lavelle’s opinions reflect those of the punters or fellow touring artists on the Future Music Festival remains to be seen, but regardless of the fact; if you’re a fan and want to catch Lavelle in the more homely surrounds of an intimate club, don’t forget he’ll be playing Sydney and Melbourne this week!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!

His music was good enough for Sasha to retouch on his Involver album, two tracks infact. And I understand what he is saying, if I was producing music to the same calibre of UNKLE, the last thing I would want to do is tour around Australia with TOCADSICO,

Unkle's music - definitely groundbreaking. and yeah he calloborated with shadow...until shadow refused to work with him any longer due to JL's drug use and other issues. I caught JL at future here in perth - he seemed half asleep and even trainwrecked a c

maybe if he djed straight at one of the gigs he may have liked it, he was off his face 100% of the time and played like ****

touched a nerve it seems... personally i think a small venue or intimate set is much more suited to the sounds of UNKLE...rather than a circus tent filled with glow sticks and fluro

heard Carl Cox the other day describe the 'amazing' future music festival tour so it's obviously subjective

Wasnt it Two Tribes? Was slightly different format than FMF.

if he doesn't like festivals then why did he agree to tour? prolly trying to get over the fact there was about 50 times more people partying to trance on the other side of the festival

caught his band set recently in spain, they closed out a the main stage of a festival and that ripped.. perhaps he should just stick to his smaller venues for solo times
