OK we all know Rage Against the Machine will be headlining and there have been whispers of Bjork – well now we can finally put the rumours to bed as the Big Day Out 2008 first line-up is revealed!
And yep it’s true – two of the nineties’ biggest acts and two of our fave BDO artists, Rage Against the Machine and Bjork, will be headlining the BDO this year, there’s plenty more nostalgia to be had with the likes of singer/songwriters Billy Bragg and Paul Kelly added to the mix.
Aussie rock fans can get excited with a big dose of Grinspoon added to the bill. Meanwhile Montreal indie outfit Arcade Fire will surely make converts to their Neon Bible . Hip Hop pioneers Hilltop Hoods will be sharing the love; music fans wanting a taste of electro disco punked up pop will no doubt be nodding their heads at the inclusion of LCD SoundSystem (and yes, Al from Hot Chip will be there)
Peeps wanting some intelligent pop can check out Sarah Blasko fresh from a slew of OS dates and a stack of ARIA noms firmly in hand. While the Faker boys will no doubt up the ante with tracks from their new album Be The Twilight. Adding to the mayhem, those maestros of spiraling synth and caterwauling guitars – the Midnight Juggernauts. Mercury Prize winner Dizzee Rascal will also step into the fray.
Central coast punksters Something WIth Numbers return to BDO after smashing it in 2007… While NYC’s Battles will serve up a dose of their crazed math rock avant garde craziness. New Zealand’s latest greatest export, Cut Off Your Hands will also offer a taste of their frenzied indie rock.
Excited? You bet we are!

2 tickets per customer is shit..Ken west is scum,he doesnt mind having a crack at people who sell on thier tickets,but he is happy to sell second release tickets at an inflated price.There needs to be an inquiry into why these promoters are allowed to sell second and third release tickets.

this is kinda boring asides Bjork. i'm keen to check out Battles though. not even sure if im gonna go this year. BDO seems to let me down more and more each year i go.

What a shit line up, have been going to the BDO, how things have changed, hope the boiler rom has a little more to offer it is my only salvation, bring on Carl Cox, Underworld, Fatboy Slim to make up for it all.

I'm suprised at the negative response to this. It's got RATM and Bjork for gods sake people. And many others inculding LCD that will kill it. Having seen Battles last week I would be willing to kill my own grandmother to see them again.

Tickets sold before full announcement? WTF. I remember buying them 2 months after they went on sale and paying $79 for a stellar lineup when the aussie dollar was weak. There was no 2nd or 3rd release and no clones running around in fluro. Eh
