OK we all know Rage Against the Machine will be headlining and there have been whispers of Bjork – well now we can finally put the rumours to bed as the Big Day Out 2008 first line-up is revealed!
And yep it’s true – two of the nineties’ biggest acts and two of our fave BDO artists, Rage Against the Machine and Bjork, will be headlining the BDO this year, there’s plenty more nostalgia to be had with the likes of singer/songwriters Billy Bragg and Paul Kelly added to the mix.
Aussie rock fans can get excited with a big dose of Grinspoon added to the bill. Meanwhile Montreal indie outfit Arcade Fire will surely make converts to their Neon Bible . Hip Hop pioneers Hilltop Hoods will be sharing the love; music fans wanting a taste of electro disco punked up pop will no doubt be nodding their heads at the inclusion of LCD SoundSystem (and yes, Al from Hot Chip will be there)
Peeps wanting some intelligent pop can check out Sarah Blasko fresh from a slew of OS dates and a stack of ARIA noms firmly in hand. While the Faker boys will no doubt up the ante with tracks from their new album Be The Twilight. Adding to the mayhem, those maestros of spiraling synth and caterwauling guitars – the Midnight Juggernauts. Mercury Prize winner Dizzee Rascal will also step into the fray.
Central coast punksters Something WIth Numbers return to BDO after smashing it in 2007… While NYC’s Battles will serve up a dose of their crazed math rock avant garde craziness. New Zealand’s latest greatest export, Cut Off Your Hands will also offer a taste of their frenzied indie rock.
