Rogue Traders get a reality TV boost

It’s hard to believe that the Rogue Traders started out, way back when, as something of an ‘underground’ (and we use the term loosely…) dance act on Aussie label Vicious Vinyl. After jumping on the electro-rock bandwagon and selling shed-loads of records thanks to new front woman Natalie Bassingthwaite’s commercial appeal, holding down the role of ‘Evil Izzy’ on TV-soap Neighbours, it was pretty safe to say they lost any connection they had to the dance and club scene. If proof of that fact was required, then we need look no further than the latest TV gig Bassingthwaite has picked up… the hosting duties on the Australian version of talent search ‘So You Think You Can Dance’!

Despite having to date demonstrated dance skills that more or less consist of controlled writhing, Channel Ten are 100% behind the selection of Bassingthwaite to host their newest reality TV venture, with their Chief Programming Office Dave Mott remarking; “she ticks all the boxes – passionate, credible, glamorous. She has got it all and more.” If you want to get a taste of what to expect from the nationwide search for dancing talent, check out this YouTube clip we came across recently, where two chaps on the American series had a ‘contemporary-dance-fight’ to the tune of The Presets’ ‘Are You The One?’

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
