In what has been a manic week for festivals and sell-out events, the madness aint over yet… The Sydney leg of the Big Day Out went on sale today and before 10am this morning, all 45,000 tickets had completely sold out. It’s one of the country’s most popular festivals but it’s also one of the largest, so to see it sell out so quickly means that basically, festival fever has been taken to a new level.
For the lucky punters who did ready their credit cards and enter the online queues this morning, they can look forward to a festival that will include headline performances from 90s icons Rage Against the Machine and Bjork, in addition to other international performers like LCD SoundSystem, Dizzee Rascal and Arcade Fire, as well as local favourites like Grinspoon, Hilltop Hoods, Faker, Midnight Juggernauts and many more.
If you’re crying into your coffee that you missed out on tickets, all is not lost. In a similar manner to last year, several thousand tickets have been with held from initial sale for use in an online ballot allocation. Each week 1000 tickets will be made available on the Big Day Out website and the ballot will be drawn at 9pm Thursday each week, beginning Thursday 25th October and finishing Thursday 27th December.
Registering for the ballot will open at 9am EST Thursday 18th October, check out the Big Day Out website for more details.
