Hip hop fans take note because one of America’s greatest underground MC/producers Ohmega Watts will be bringing it to Sydney this November with the ‘Solid Ground’ tour, along with an all-star support cast of funk and leftfield beats that includes the likes of Ladi 6, Mark Pritchard, Thief, Russ Dewbury and DJ Sepalot. How’s that for a lineup?
The Brooklyn bred Ohmega Watts blew hip hop fans away with his debut album The Find, with its blend of energetic old-school rap layed over the top of amazingly accomplished beats and funky instrumentals, with an balance between the big club tunes and the deeper jazzy contributions. His follow up release Watts Happening is about to hit the shelves and now we’ll get the chance to catch him in the flesh.
And in what makes for a massive lineup of underground hip hop names, he’ll be joined by New Zealand vocalist and MC Ladi 6, acclaimed DJ/producer Mark Pritchard from the UK who’s remixed the like of Tribe Called Quest and Lamb, turntablist and producer from Melbourne Thief, the Brighton based Russ Dewbury who is a massive name in the soul/jazz dance music scene as well as Sepalot who will be bringing a wicked selection of hip hop, rare grooves and electro.
‘Solid Ground’ all goes down on Saturday 24th November at the Oxford Art Factory, tickets on sale now at inthemix!
