The French invasion shows no signs of waning in the lead up to NYE, with news now at hand that Jean-Baptiste de Laubier – otherwise known under the name Para One – will be hitting Australian shores for a national tour this November.
With roots in the French hip-hop scene, Para One has been producing since the early 90s (although initially it was under the pseudonym Paradoxal H). In the mid 90s he released two seminal mixtapes under the Quality Streetz series name, and also found the time to direct his first movie.
Around the turn of the century he was still producing, and having met TTC he contributed a track to the group’s debut LP ‘Ceciu N’Est Pas Un Disque’. Ever since he’s continued to release tracks, either solo or in collaboration, and his recent releases on uber-cool French label Institubes have sent dancefloors wild. He’s remixed everyone from Bloc Party and Daft Punk to Ellen Allien, MSTRKRFT and Datarock.
Para One tour dates:
Fri Nov 2 – Perth, The Bakery Artrage
Mon Nov 5 – Melbourne, Onelove
Fri Nov 9 – Brisbane, Empire
Sat Nov 10 – Sydney, Onelove
Stay tuned to ITM for updates.
