Legendary DJ, producer and remixer Andrew Weatherall will be making his way to Australia for the very first time in January, when we’ll be given the chance to discover how he’s neatly managed to straddle both rock music and straight-up techno all these years. Brought to you by Civil Society and presented by inthemix, he’ll be putting his years of experience to work and putting the funk back into tech house.

Weatherall first came to our attention as the producer behind such seminal work as Primal Scream’s Screamadelica and My Bloody Valentine, as well his unforgettable remixes for the likes of New Order with World In Motion and Happy Mondays with Hallelujah. That’s not to mention his recorded work behind the pseudonyms of Sabres of Paradise and Two Lone Swordsmen.

But what we’ll be seeing in January is the DJ side of Andrew’s personality, showcased most famously on his fabric 19 compilation (and on the main floor of the club Fabric itself), as well as at the Chemical Brother’s famous Heavenly Social nights. While the focus is firmly on underground house and techno, his history in rock, rockabilly and dub suggest he’s never one to be tied down.

Excited about the possibility of checking him out for the very first time? Check out the dates below and stay tuned to inthemix for info on the Sydney show.
