Having led the field in nominations at the 2007 awards, up in a staggering six categories – the most of any independent artist in ARIA history – electro-pop trio Sneaky Sound System walked away from the ceremony triumphant last night with trophies for Breakthrough Artist Album and Best Dance Release. It’s the crowning achievement on an absolutely massive 12 months for the Sneaky crew, their self-titled debut album having achieved sales in excess of 110,000 copies. Performing an energetic medley of their biggest hits on the night, Sneaky were not the only electronic act to triumph, with Gotye out of Melbourne surprising many with his win in the Best Male group. The Hilltop Hoods saw their dominance over the Australian hip-hop scene continue, taking out the Best Urban Release award for the second year running.

SSS ain't my thing, but you do have to give it to them - they're good at what they do, and being independant ain't easy either. I think there's a lot of hate simply because they're pop, but regardless of what they create, they've placed themselves nicely in the market and they've done very well out of it. I say good on them.
