ITM spoke to Future Entertainment head honcho Mark James today, discussing his new mix compilation about to hit the stores that marks the 10th anniversary of Melbourne’s Summerdayze festival. Expect to see the interview online soon, but Mark also revealed that Future has just picked up the rights for the Cream brand in Australia and a tour has been locked in for this coming Easter – not to mention a few other plans they’ve got on the boil for 2008.
“We’ve just taken over the Cream brand, and we’ll be looking after that from now on in Australia. That might turn into a festival, you never know. But we’re currently looking at another couple of festivals next year and one specifically that’s going to be around the end of November, which is a big overseas brand that will be coming to Australia for the very first time,” he said.
Cream got started back in 1992 at the Nation nightclub in Liverpool, and became one of the best-known club nights in the UK with a number of high-profile residencies that included Paul Oakenfold at the peak of his popularity. The brand still holds regular sellout events at Nation Cream as well as the Creamfields festival every August. We’ll be seeing the Cream brand in Australia next Easter when Future Entertainment kick off a club tour across the country, and they’ll be bringing with them what Mark terms as “a really big headliner.”
So who could it be? Stay tuned to ITM for details on Future’s plans to bring Cream back to Australia in 2008.
