Kicking off this coming Saturday night, 8Bit is a new night at The Cross that aims to promote not only new music, but also art and modern culture in a variety of forms. For the debut event you’ll be enjoying sets from rising producer Neon Stereo, as well as controversial DJ Nick Taylor – fresh out of a Bali jail cell!
Neon Stereo has delivered remixes for heavyweights like Steve Angello, Andy Caldwell and Ricky Stone, with a bunch of original productions on the way for labels such as System Recordings, 852 Records and Benchmarc Records. And Nick Taylor needs no introduction: besides a recent altercation with the authorities, he’s one of Byron Bay’s finest and this will be his first Sydney gig after his return.
But there’s a lot more to it than just the music – for the coming months the 8bit crew is planning interactive artwork, games, responsive imagery and more. Expect everything from online video games to win tickets to a ‘photo wall’ that asks clubbers to send their photos via MMS to be part of the club interior artwork. Their first online video game competition has already kicked off, and this month’s theme is set to reach back into nostalgia land with space invaders! Check it out online at and for heaps more.
Get on down to The Cross this Saturday night to experience the first 8Bit event, featuring Neon Stereo and Nick Taylor! Check out 8bit.net.au for more details.
