One of the Gold Coast’s, oldest and no-doubt most loved venues will finally re-open this weekend following a lengthy closed-door period where they carryied out a revamp. Mybar has been host to hundereds of massive acts including Tiga, Luke Soloman, Freq Nasty, Roger Sanchez and Derrick Carter just to name a very small few.
At only 250 person capacity, it’s intimacy and quality resident DJs attracted a very select clientele. Mybar was known for it’s consistent cool and elegant atmosphere. So who will be the residents this time round you ask? Well breathe a sigh of relief as old residents Ben Cooper and James Canning WILL be continuing.
The duo can only be described as legends within the Gold Coast community. Through fads and hypes – these two have remained unscathed by any hits with the ‘sell out’ stick and I’m sure many will be looking forward to how far they have come since then. James Canning having recently performed with his highly acclaimed live funk act Rubber Johnston at this years SummaFieldDayze festival, says he is ecstatic about the new venue re-opening and it’s musical offering it will unleash on the Gold Coast.
True to the elegant and sophisticated theme, opening night this Thursday 15th October will feature home grown talent Katie Noonan, followed by a night with Nathan G on Friday.
So if you like your nights out on the decadent side, make sure you check out the new Mybar this weekend!
