Having been a proud resident of Melbourne for the past 7 years, celebrated Australian DJ and producer Jono Fernandez has announced he’ll be packing his bags (and studio gear!) to head north in 2008, setting up a new home base in Sydney.
The move comes off the back of Jono’s recent work with Kid Kenobi, voted #1 DJ in Australia three years running on the inthemix50. Just this week the pair have scored a #1 ARIA Club Chart single with their remix of Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip’s alt-hip-hop breakthrough ‘Thou Shalt Always Kill’ climbing to the top spot after 3 weeks in the top 5. Work with Kenobi is not the only thing in the pipeline for Fernandez, however, with his electro- rock remix of the new Mark James single ‘I Want You’ also creeping into the Club Charts at #40.
“With more and more work coming from Sydney, both on the gig front and in the studio, the time is right for me to make the move. Melbourne’s been a great base over the last 7 years but I’m ready for a change,” Jono remarked when speaking about the impending move. Before he makes a run for the border he’ll be undertaking one more tour, so get a wriggle on to the following venues throughout December to catch him doing what he does best!
Jono Fernandez tour dates:
Wed Dec 5 – Halo, Hobart
Sat Dec 8 – Chinese Laundry, Sydney
Sun Dec 9 – Something on Sundays, Gold Coast
Fri Dec 14 – Darkbeat, Melbourne
Sat Dec 15 – Something Special, Brisbane
