In an unexpected bout of badass-ery, pop darlings Sneaky Sound System have caused $1000 worth of damage to a hotel room in the NSW town of Albury.
The Chifley Hotel general manager Mark Munday claims the band “smashed” a bed, ripped fly screens off windows and sprayed graffiti over the walls. He told the local newspaper his famous guests “went overboard” on their overnight stay, chalking up $1000 in damages.
“Usually we have no problems from bands but these guys went overboard and it becomes very disruptive to other guests,” Mr Munday said. “It was not nice … this would be one of the worse cases. They really took it to town.”
Several publications have requested a statement from the band, but their manager isn’t returning calls.

jetgrrl says...
so hang on... they destroyed a bed, wrecked the windows and painted on the walls but even after all that the bill only came to $1000? Yeah sure... sounds like either the hotel owner is totally exaggerating the extent of the damage or the room was crapski before they even began

Update from daily telegraph SYDNEY dance act Sneaky Sound System has said Goodbye to a crew member following a trashed hotel room incident that has severely tarnished the ARIA award-winning band's reputation. Earlier this week, Albury's Chifley Hotel general manager publicly accused the band of trashing one of eight rooms booked on Saturday night - causing $1000 in damages. Mark Munday told local media the band had smashed a bed, ripped flyscreens off windows and left graffiti on walls during an all-night party after headlining the weekend's Groovin' the Moo music festival. "It was not nice ... this would be one of the worse cases,'' he said. The band yesterday argued the only real damage done had been to their name, releasing a statement to reject claims they were involved in any way. Manager Amber Zada yesterday confirmed a crew member had been fired over the incident but claimed the band had nothing to do with it. "It's very unfortunate and disappointing because it has tarnished Sneaky's name,'' Zada told Confidential. "The room in question was occupied by two crew members and as a result it was decided it was better to let that person go.'' Zada said the details of the damage done to the room were "grossly exaggerated'', prompting the band to consider legal action. "If that's trashing a room then we're a pretty sad band. But instead of focusing on it we just want to move forward,'' she said.
