After months of rumours and speculation that’s seen some of dance music’s most revered names thrown around as possibilities, and following the announcement of lineups for Sydney and Melbourne earlier this week, we can finally reveal the Perth and Brisbane details for the Future Music Festival next year!
Brisbane is set to take place on Saturday March 1st (venue TBA), and Perth Sunday March 2nd at Wellington Square. At the top of the bill are The Chemical Brothers, who’ll be bringing their spectacular live show back to Australia. We already knew they’d be in the country in March for solo shows in Sydney and Melbourne, so there was heavy speculation HERE they’d also be making an appearance on the Future Music Festival tour. Partygoers can now look forward to seeing their spectacular new live show that was debuted at Glastonbury earlier this year.
Next in line is none other than John Digweed. While some will be upset he won’t be joined by his DJ cohort Sasha as was speculated HERE, he’ll be touring off the back of what’s been a massively successful 12 months for the veteran DJ. He released the third installment of his Transitions series of CDs to critical acclaim and he’s been whipping music fans into a frenzy over a special ‘Warehouse Project’ live set that’s been circulating around the web, recorded in Sheffield earlier this year (check out the forum discussion HERE).
Germany’s Sven Vath will be returning to Australia for the first time in four years, and it was only two weeks ago that ITM revealed HERE that both Eddie Halliwell and Marcus Schultz were hotly tipped for the festival, along with house music’s hottest Roger Sanchez. The latter will be joined by rising Dutch DJ/producer Laidback Luke, who recently starred alongside Sanchez on mixing duties for the Afterdark Volume 3 compilation (check out the ITM review HERE).
Beyond the big names, there’s more variety than ever before on this year’s Future Music Festival lineup. Tech-funk’s finest Elite Force will be present along with Baile funk DJ/producer Diplo, American MC Aesop Rock will be representing the hip hop alongside Kid Koala and DJ Yoda, while names like Robbie Rivera and Mark Knight will ensure that house fans are more than satisfied.
